Local metal, stoner, doom, and noise rock lovers have cause for celebration as the third annual Devilneck Metal Fest will take over Athens on October 1st and 2nd at the Caledonia Lounge. The full lineup and schedule have been announced and it’s a damn good one—an extremely solid mix of up-and-coming local talent and established regional/national acts. There is also an impressive array of sounds and style—everything from the dark, soulful blues crush of Wizard Smoke and Royal Thunder to Music Hates You’s pummeling hardcore riff rock to Whores’ cavernous slabs of sludge and noise.
If all of that local heaviness isn’t enough (plus Utah, Sons of Tonatiuh and Guzik, too!), Devilneck has also managed to score some quality regional/national acts, most notably Relapse Records artists, Indian and Rwake.
Admission for Friday night will run $10 for the 18-20 crowd and $8 for 21 and over. Saturday night will go for $12 and $10, respectively. Two day passes are $15 and are available in-person at Pain and Wonder Tattoo Studio in Athens or online via PayPal ($1 surcharge).
