Considering the success of last year’s inaugural run of the Stuffing at the Center Stage music complex in Midtown, it should be no surprise that the event is back again this year for a second go around. Still, it’s gratifying to see another sold out crowd flock to what in many ways amounts to a hometown throwdown with local boys done good Manchester Orchestra and their label, Favorite Gentlemen, leading the way. While the Stuffing boasts it share of popular out-of-town artists — Cage the Elephant, the Dear Hunter and Kevin Devine are all slated to perform this year — much of the event’s appeal, at least for me, is watching lesser known local acts get good exposure. For all intents and purposes, the event is a three-stage showcase for Favorite Gentlemen, which means that, in addition to a headlining performance from Manchester Orchestra, audiences will get an opportunity to watch local up-and-comers A: The Color, Big Jesus, Death on Two Wheels and O’Brother do their thing. Doors open at 5pm, so if you were fortunate enough to score tickets, make sure to get their early to catch all the openers.
