Now in it’s seventh year, the Little Five Fest (formerly the Other Sound Festival) is one of Atlanta’s leading underground local music showcases that seeks to celebrate some of Atlanta’s best independent musical talent as well as the many unique flavors of the Little Five Points community. This year’s all-day event will feature more than 30 bands playing on five stages located at Star Bar, Criminal Records and Aurora Coffee. In the past, the lineups have tended to be hit-or-miss but the 2011 iteration is the best I’ve seen with performances scheduled from a cavalcade of Atlanta’s finest including Aku You, Back Pockets, Jack of Hearts, Jeffrey Bützer, Lucy Dreams, Order of the Owl, Skin Jobs, This Piano Plays Itself and many more (check out the full schedule here). Seriously, for a small fest that spans less than 24 hours, the talent level being presented here borders on the awesome. Furthermore, an all-day pass with entry to every performance will run you only $10, which also makes it one hell of a bargain. There are an incredible amount of terrific shows this week (just take a glance at the list below, it’s ridiculous) but none are nearly as pertinent and vital to the local music community as the Little Five Fest. Don’t blow it.
