With just a couple of days left before the release of their new EP, Keep Warm, A Fight to the Death have unveiled a second track for fans to peruse. Those looking for a followup to the cool nocturnal rumblings that made their first single “Paper Airplanes” such a treat, may, however, be disappointed. Instead “Like Dolls” exhibits some of that Mediterranean seaside gypsy soul that the band has put on display in the past. It’s not exactly my cup of tea, but there’s no doubting that the band does this sort of thing well mixing Spanish guitars with a steady stream of organs and keys that underpin CJ Bargamian’s warm vocals.
A Fight to the Death will celebrate the release of the Keep Warm EP this Saturday, May 21 at Star Bar. Afro pop outfit The Mosquito Kings will play in support. Doors open at 8pm. Admission is $8.
