Instrumental fusion rockers Miles From Pangaea have released precious little music since their 2009 self-titled debut. They haven’t played a show since last July’s Hijacking Music Festival. Both of these things will change, however, when the band celebrates the release of their yet-to-be-titled sophomore effort on Friday, May 13 at the Music Room.
Information on the new record is scant to say the least, but the trio has made one of the tracks, “Hypoxia,” available for streaming and download. It’s typically ambitious stuff that hurdles across a broad spectrum of styles covering everything from funk and hard rock to jazz and prog. It doesn’t quite achieve the jaw-dropping highs found on their debut, but it’s still a promising lead-in to the band’s second act.
