It’s not often that the members of young, up-and-coming band get the opportunity to work with one of their heroes. When such a rare chance does surface, it would be kind of pathetic if the group didn’t do everything in its power to seize that opportunity, right?
In the case of experimental prog-rockers, ODIST, the big chance at stake is opening for the Ikey Owens-led collective, Free Moral Agents, on their next tour. More importantly, Owens, who also happens to moonlight as the Grammy Award winning keyboardist from the Mars Volta, has offered to take ODIST under his wing and produce their second full-length album. So, yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
Now, as you might guess, all of this comes with a hefty price tag. While the trio is willing to pony up for tour and travel expenses, there remains the matter of the actual recording, mixing and producing of the album, which the band estimates will run around two grand. In order to generate the funds, they recently started a Kickstarter campaign and have been asking for fan support in raising the finances. With just over two weeks left, they has raised roughly a quarter of their pledged goal. As most of you reading this probably know, If the project isn’t fully funded by the time those two weeks are up, the band will not receive any of the money. It’s all or nothing.
Check out the video the band created explaining their cause below. I encourage you to click on the link beneath and see for yourself exactly what ODIST is trying to accomplish. You’ll see there are a variety of pledge levels to choose from and the group has put together some nice reward packages for those who choose to support them.
