As promised, February was an especially terrific month for local music with an array of solid releases from a diverse range of bands. The were some disappointing developments (where’s the full HAWKS record dammit!), but there were also some unexpected and welcome surprises. In addition to the records highlighted in last month’s post, we also got a double whammy from the Back Pockets in the form of, first, their three-song Bulla EP followed by the release of their sophomore full-length, Hello Dandelion. Indie rockers New Terminus got in on the fun putting out their second EP, Development, while electro-cello-pop (yeah, I just made up that genre) outfit, Pink Pompeii gave us their debut LP, De Rigueur. Not bad for the shortest month of the year.
Things don’t appear to be slowing down any in March, either. Below are six releases we feel you should be checking out this month. Again, diversity is the keyword with a wide variety of sounds represented here from hip hop and psych-pop to prog rock and doom metal. Atlanta music really seems to be doing it all these days.
