Psychedelic art pop noisemakers A. Grimes have posted a rough edit of “pigseatingpigs,” a new track from their forthcoming record, Sextape, and it’s a beautiful mess. There’s really no reason this whole track isn’t an epic disaster; from the opening notes everything sound like its on the verge of collapse but the band continues to push forward, unveiling a cavalcade of disparate sounds and fuzzed-out grooves along the way. Instead of a convoluted catastrophe we’re left with a surprisingly catchy, if decidedly experimental, psych rock jam that sounds like nothing else anyone in this town is doing. That alone should be incentive enough for you to hit play, but the fact that it’s also an enviable bit of forward-thinking songcraft makes it downright mandatory.
