For some inexplicable reason I have yet to explore Empros, the latest offering from post-metal kings, Russian Circles. But everything I’ve read about the album indicates that it rivals, and may even surpass, its extraordinary predecessor, Geneva. I’ll believe that when I hear it. Still, even if Empros was only a mediocre effort, I would still implore you to go out and catch this show tonight. And not just because the rest of Russian Circles’ catalog is so outstandingly good, but also because these three guys absolutely crush it live. I’ve seen them perform two times now and each time I’ve left shaking my head in wonder at their jaw-dropping displays of power and precision. If you have any love at all for killer drumming and fantastical flights of guitar wizardry, do not miss this show.
