It’s hard to believe that it’s only been a couple of weeks since this show. It seems so much longer ago; I can scarcely recall much of the details. I do remember that Maserati killed it, although the set seemed short for a headlining act. I also remember them closing the night out with a frantic version of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell,” which seemed simultaneously puzzling and yet perfect at the same time. All those delayed guitars circling over one another trying to chase each other down? Of course they would play that.
The remainder of the band’s set, however, consisted mostly of material from their latest LP, Pyramid of the Sun, including this spirited and jaw-dropping version of one of my favorite cuts, “We Have the System to Fight the System.” Enjoy.
