After a two-year “hiatus,” when many thought the much beloved festival to be dead and gone, Corndogorama is back. And while I’d love to toss in a congratulatory “AND BETTER THAN EVER!” in there, the reality is that the 2012 will be a scaled down affair from years past, which from a purely practical and fiscal standpoint, is really the smart play. So while two days at the Earl may not live up to all the wonderful, alcohol addled and cornmeal battered memories you’ve stored in your head, it’s still great to have Cornodogorama back. Especially if it’s going to deliver lineups like Saturday’s bona fide bonanza of local talent including sets from erstwhile favorite sons Snowden, along with Latest Disgrace faves Royal Thunder, Sealions, PLS PLS and many more. Throw in all the events like the corn dog eating contest, beer factor Olympics, tricycle race, ass-kissing booth, the drunk tank, the crowning of the new Miss Corndog, and the heavy metal petting zoo, and you have all the makings for the glorious return of one of Atlanta’s best music festivals.
