Twelve ATL Records to Listen for in November

Qurious - Void VanishingThe beginning of autumn always seems to be an excellent time for music releases and October seemed particularly obliging this year—especially toward the end when the debut record from Stallone began cramming its way into my earholes. What a magnificent slice of thundering experimental post-metal that little joint is! A furious cavalcade of galloping riffs and sprawling psychedelic guitar. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to leap down the rabbit hole, now is as good a time as any to take the plunge.

I’m not certain anything quite that explosive lurks in wait for November, but looking at this list of upcoming releases there’s certainly no shortage of promising ventures. Not the least of which is a four-song split 7″ featuring two tracks from stomach-churning noise kings Uncle Touchy, due out today. If you like your music brutally heavy and equally ill-tempered, you better jump on this one while copies last.

Looking down the line, we also have promising new works from Abby Gogo and folk collective Book Club, both of which should be getting a lot of listens as November rolls on. But if I had to pick one record that I’m looking most forward to this month, it would definitely be Void Vanishing, the sophomore full-length from experimental electronic duo Qurious. The follow-up to 2010′s stunning Planet Plant should be a feast for the ears and another mind-expanding journey through surreal shape-shifting beats and celestial soundscapes. Don’t sleep on this one.
