Glenn Saddler Delivers Anthem, Drops New Video

Glenn Saddler

A few weeks ago Glenn Saddler released Anthem, his follow-up to last year’s solid effort,The Life and Grinds of Glenn Saddler, and the ten-song LP shows a lot of progress from its predecessor. The songs are more diverse, intricate and nuanced. The hooks are bigger and, well, more anthemic. Saddler has always struck me as a restless soul, as someone who isn’t satisfied by merely writing, recording and releasing music so was no surprise when he announced that, in addition to his new record, he would also be releasing a six-part series of videos that would comprise a short film tiled Those Days. We’ve already witnessed the album’s first single and video, “Fais Gaffe Se Tois,” a tense black and white affair that helped establish the film’s loose storyline. And now here we have the second piece in his dramatic puzzle, this one for the dreamy and soulful “If You Will.” I’m really digging the vibe on this track; it’s hypnotic and generous with the headphone candy without sounding pretentious or cluttered. Watch it below.

Anthem is available now as a free download via Far Out, a local arts collective of which Saddler is a co-founder.

Glenn Saddler will perform Monday, July 23, at Smith’s Olde Bar. Joining him will be his fellow Far Out brethren Bias the Black and Chris Mac. Doors open at 7:00pm. $5 gets you in.
