Psychedelic sludge lords Irreversible have been hard at work on their comeback EP, Ashes, and last week they gave us our first glimpse into the new material with the release of a new teaser video. Anyone who’s spent any time listening to the band won’t necessarily be surprised by what they hear—it’s heavy, atmospheric, thick-as-molasses sludge metal—but even this short of a clip reveals a ferociously focused group playing with tremendous urgency. There are quite a few potentially strong local releases due out next month, but Ashes just moved to the top of my list.
Irreversible have the new EP slated for a Saturday, April 7 release via their Bandcamp page. In celebration, the band will perform that night at 529, with Order of the Owl, Nigredo and Brother Hawk scheduled to play in support. Doors are at 9pm and admission is $8.
