For everyone eagerly awaiting a new record from Atlanta’s Jungol, the band provided a taste of what’s to come when they performed stripped-down versions of two new songs for 99X’s Sunday School last weekend. The tracks—called “Leper” and “Fire Feet,” respectively—seem to reveal a more lush and organic approach than what we’ve heard from the group in the past, although it’s possible (and highly likely) that the songs will receive substantially more guitar and drum heft when the final album mix is revealed. In any case, while both tunes find the band in top form, it’s “Leper” that steals the show with an moody mix of airy melodies and harmonies set against a soft palette of shuffling percussion and gossamer synths. You can watch videos of both performances below, followed by a short interview with Kurt from 99X.
