Have you ever been walking down the street with your headphones on, blaring something in your ears, not caring about what anyone around you thinks? Or have you rocked out to something obscure that might fit into some commercial or movie soundtrack if someone with the vision and means would hear it? The point here is this: when music invites you to turn it up and move, even if just a little head bobbing action, it’s likely something worth listening to.
Hello Ocho’s new single, “Stickin’ to the Sheets” is a pleasant little rendezvous down the street, just after waking up on a sunny day, if you will. Reminiscent of early Cold War Kids, the track finds melodic and soulful vocals backed with an energetic bass line and many surprise harmonies and intriguing drum beats. There’s an element of adventure here; I feel like I’m on a little journey with the band and enjoying the ride. These guys definitely are on to something.
Hello Ocho will celebrate the release of the “Stickin’ to the Sheets” single tomorrow night, June 21st, at Star Bar. They will be supported by Bubbly Mommy Gun, the Dream Scene, Thick Paint and Horny Dinosaurs. Doors open at 9pm. Admission is FREE.
