South Australian cut, Atlas Genius is stirring in the backseat of the Silversun Pickups. Fresh into their American Tour, the band, comprised of brothers Keith, Steven and Michael Jeffery, has begun a rite of passage, spreading thick indie love across purple mountain majesties. The trio first made waves when the still unsigned group released their first single, “Trojans,” with little promotion and zero expectations. Propelled by enthusiastic bloggers and spread by social media, the song quickly took in a life of its own, and soon the brothers were fielding emails from publishers, lawyers and label execs eager to work with the fledgling group. Having inked a deal with Warner Bros. Records, their debut EP, Through the Glass, was released in June of this year and has been received with widely positive reviews.
The band will be playing tonight at the Tabernacle, cranking out tones reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie, blistered by stage lights with no need of dogged sycophants with puckered lips. If you have got the time, we have got the venue. So join them as they carve a few utopian melodies deep into the husk of your skull.
