Local hardcore trio Dyess have just released a new three-song digital EP called Keepsakes which will eventually go on to form one side of an upcoming split record with mighty noise warriors Uncle Touchy. It’s loud, aggressive, raucous stuff filled to the brim with an abundance of the usual genre trappings—lashing guitars, shouted vocals, steamrolling rhythms—but the band manage to toss in enough aggro AmRep squall and squalor to keep things interesting. “Camp Araway” is the second track on the EP and its most immediately accessible, although that’s admittedly a relative term when you’re talking about music that’s meant to punish as much as it is to entertain.
