VIDEO: BOSCO – “Yeah-Yay”

While the motto of many a band may be “It’s all about the music,” smart, savvy artists trying to break out in today’s hyper-paced marketplace understand that in order to cut through the daily onslaught of new music, news and gossip, you need to deliver a little something extra. Occasionally that means concepting and coordinating some grand artistic endeavor, but most of the time it just means keeping yourself in the conversation. Brittany Bosco gets this as much as anyone and through her solo project, BOSCO, she does an excellent job of using film and video to promote upcoming projects/shows or to breathe additional life into her lush, ambient electronic pop.

This unofficial video for “Yeah-Yay” off last year’s Pacer EP is a perfect example. There’s not a whole lot to it—just a grainy, black and white single shot of her friend Ashley Rhoden doing an interpretive dance to the track—but it’s engaging enough to keep the viewer entertained without overshadowing the vibrant pulse of the music. And that’s really what matters—keeping BOSCO top of mind for as many listeners as possible and getting them to hear her songs. There’s no doubt in my mind that Miss Bosco is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year and it’s small efforts like this one that will set her apart from the a lot of the pack. Now if only more local artists would follow suit, we might have a little revolution on our hands.
