Painting the Krog Street tunnel has become something of a right of passage for Atlanta bands looking to promote themselves within the city. Yesterday, local garage-blue duo Dead Rabbits unveiled a new video that showcases their prowess at turning the city landmark into a self-promoting billboard (and wiping out the work of fellow locals Gun Party in the process). Visually, the time-lapse technique is something we’ve seen before, but it’s still great to watch fun to watch them progress through the various stages of their design. But let’s not forget the real hero here. Because “My Moment” is one NASTY jam. It’s everything that you’ve come to expect from the twosome—big, boisterous blues guitars and deep pocket grooves—but there’s stickiness here, an I-can’t-get-this-melody-out-of-head memorability that the band hasn’t quite been able to achieve in the past. I’m not sure if this is a simple one-off or a track from some forthcoming record, but it certainly makes me hungry to hear more. Well done, gentlemen.
