In support of their upcoming debut full length, One, due out next Tuesday, Big Jesus have unveiled a second track from the album, a sleek, hurtling ball of melodic sludge-metal urgency called “Oneirica.” Coming as it does on the heels of the gloriously euphoric first single “Shards”, it’s safe to say the band has found their strength in crafting fast-paced scorchers that manage to embrace pop buoyancy within a hammering fuzz-rock grind. The transition from the rapid fire verses to the bruising chorus is particularly inspired, as is the spiraling, double-helix riff that forms the backbone of the song’s latter half. For fans of soaring guitar pyrotechnics and anthemic harmonies, this is a blistering, fist-pumping triumph. Give it a listen below.
Big Jesus will perform this Sunday, November 3 at the Earl in support of Weatherbox and Restorations. Doors open at 8pm. $8 gets you in.
