Top 10 ATL Videos of 2013

I always seem to kick off my year-end lists with the top videos, probably because I fool myself into believing it will be the easiest to put together—less candidates to deal with, higher barrier of entry, et cetera, et cetera. And while, yes, there are a certain number of can’t-miss picks that you could call shoe-ins, narrowing this year’s list down to the final ten turned out to be more of a bear than I initially thought.

And what I ended up with is a little bit of everything (and not just from a music genre perspective, although that too happened with artists representing everything from hip-hop and electronica to folk and noise rock all making the cut). There’s parody and humor here, as well as some more serious documentary-style work. There’s abstract and surreal experimentation sitting alongside traditional narrative-driven projects. There’s blood and beauty and many things that lay in between. But most of all there’s a whole lot of talent, hard work and creative vision to be shared from some of the best our city has to offer.

So take a deep breath, pour yourself a stiff cocktail, and hit the next page to watch the best ATL videos of 2013. Enjoy.
