VIDEO: Mood Rings – "333"

Mood Rings - 333If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to listen to Mood Rings’ fantastic debut LP, VPI Harmony, now would be as good a time as any to rectify that. It’s a perfect summer record full of shimmering melodies and lush grooves that shift seamlessly between dreamy pop and black-dyed post-punk. And while "333" doesn’t actually appear on the new record (the track can be found as the B-side to the album’s first single “Pathos y Lagrimas”), it certainly maintains the record’s brooding spirit and glistening pulse. Yesterday the band unveiled a new video for the track created by local artist Allen Taylor, aka Feast of Violet. Utilizing a collage approach, the work consists of a series of grainy layered images that constantly shift and morph from one frame to the next. It’s not a groundbreaking technique by any means but in a way it mirrors the band’s music, which requires some unraveling as it floats over you in waves. Watch it below.
