Seagulls Sign with Autumn + Colour, Unveil New Single

Melodic hardcore foursome Seagulls have announced they have come to terms with local imprint Autumn + Colour Records and will join their burgeoning roster of artists. The news arrives just as the band finishes up work on their sophomore EP, The Royal We, due out March 25. Pre-ordering for the five-song record will available March 7.

In celebration, the group has unveiled the EPs first single, a sprightly pop punk-leaning tune called “Santa’s Little Helper.” Frankly, I was hoping for little bit more of the raw, abrasive fury the band was doling out on their debut, All the World’s Wars, rather than something this polished and composed, but I’ve always been a sucker for anthemic hooks and whiskey-grizzle vocals and this track brings the gruff melodicism and rough-hewn singing in spades. Fans of Hot Water Music, Avail and the Lawrence Arms, this shit should be right up your alley. Listen below.

Seagulls will perform this Saturday, February 22, at a house show located at 239 Memorial Terrace SE. Also performing will be the Joy Kills, Bully Pulpit (South Carolina) and And That is Why. Doors are at 9pm. Admission is FREE.
