VIDEO: Small Reactions – “Saint in Robes”

Small Reactions - Saints in RobesA week after releasing “Saint in Robes,” the lead single off their upcoming first full length, Similar Phantoms, Small Reactions have unveiled the accompanying video produced by Red Bull Sound Select.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to spend a little time at the Cottage where the majority of the group lives and the band rehearses, so it’s kind of rad to see them using their home turf and surrounding stomping grounds as backdrops to this production. It’s Small Reactions in their natural environment, you guys! There they are marching through the woods and the quarry. There they are rocking out by the shed. There they are playing on the stone bleachers by the basketball courts of the abandoned school up the street. There’s a person in a skeleton suit dancing in the old bomb shelter next to the house. Speaking of the skeleton, what gives with that shit, anyway? I understand that death plays a significant thematic role on Similar Phantoms, and in that context a skeleton trailing after the band and throwing instruments off a cliff makes some metaphorical sense. But a skeleton pouring milk(?) into a chalice before dropping into an awkward Ashlee Simpson jig while the band celebrates with jazz hands? So confusing. But no matter. “Saint in Robes” is still a killer song, Small Reactions still continue to make significant forward strides, and you should still sit your ass down and watch this video.

Small Reactions will perform on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27 at the Earl in support of the Dream Syndicate’s two-night stand with Savage Republic. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $22 in advance for each performance or $25 DOS. A two-day pass can be had for $35.
