VIDEO: Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun – “Powerline”

Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun - PowerlineIt’s been almost six weeks since Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun premiered their latest official music video, “Powerline,” on Baeblemusic, so forgive us while we play some much needed catch up.

Focusing largely on intimate shots of the band members playing their instruments and a monochromatic comic book style with dramatic, slowed down movements, the video brings expressive visuals to the band’s new wave electrorock. We see the quartet atop a grey city skyline illuminated only by pulsing electronic waves and splashes of vibrant color. The contrasts are simple but striking, resulting in a highly stylized production that still feels organic. The video was directed by Chris Downs and filmed in Atlanta at TUBE.

The accompanying track is the fourth and final song from the band’s QUADS EP, which released in April on Portland, Oregon’s Greyday Records. Lauren Gibson’s melodic voice is reminiscent of Debbie Harry, strong and emphatic, and the music vibrates with a polished, yet youthful and infectious indie dance-rock vigor. The overall punchy sound sets the tone perfectly for the visual effects in the video and leaves us with a sophisticated sense of ‘turnt’ rumbling in our bellies. Watch/listen below.
